RAFTA 2023 Terms and Conditions for Script Submissions 

 

The deadline for script submissions is 20 January, 2024. We reserve the right to extend the deadline. The script should be sent to both Sohaya Visions at sohayavisions@gmail.com and Mukul & Ghetto Tigers at mukul_tiger@yahoo.com with a short covering letter of no more than 200 words on why the script is suitable for RAFTA. The script must be an original piece of work and not submitted anywhere else for production. Scripts submitted for RAFTA 2021 will not be considered for this competition. The script length must be between 25-35 pages, suitable for up to a one-hour presentation and characters for up to 5 actors. The script can be in any style on any historical, future, or regional context so long as it fulfils RAFTA aims to tackle extremism, intolerance and xenophobia. Submissions must be by writers aged over 18. Winners must agree to work with the production team and commit occasional days at mutually agreed times for script feedback and development. Rehearsals are likely to be held at a venue in London. Please include your address in the email. All submitted scripts will be held in the strictest confidence and winners notified by 30th April 2024. The winning script will receive £500 and paid in two instalments after contracted to develop the work for the stage with Sohaya Visions and Mukul & Ghetto Tigers. 5 runnersup will be selected for rehearsed script readings.
